Randy Martinez is one of today’s most popular artists in the pop culture genre. His illustrations have used for most of today’s biggest pop culture properties, including Star Wars, Marvel Comics, and Lord of the Rings. Considered the Swiss army knife of Star Wars Illustrators, Randy Martinez has been creating Cartoons, Caricatures, Illustrations, Paintings, and 3D art for Lucasfilm LTD since 1999. Martinez’s art first appeared in Star Wars Kids Magazine; before he quickly moved on to create cartoons and caricatures for the Star Wars Insider. In 2007 Martinez was chosen to create the official key art for Star Wars Celebration IV and Europe. Martinez has continued a wide range of illustration styles for Topps Trading Cards, Scholastic Books, Acme Archives and many other producers of pop culture collectibles.
In 2012, Randy Martinez was bestowed a great honor when his illustrations were included in the book Star Wars Art: Illustration (Abrams Books). This book celebrates the most influential and important illustrators that have ever created official Star Wars Art since 1977. Every illustration in this book was hand selected by George Lucas from his personal art collection.
In 2012, Marvel Comics began producing Randy’s art for their fine art print program. These are limited Edition prints of fine art paintings depicting Marvels greatest superheroes.
Martinez is also an accomplished author of two how to draw books with Impact Books. Creature Features: Draw Amazing Monsters and Aliens, and Sketch Card Mania, which he co-authored with Denise Vasquez. Both books are available in all major bookstores and on Amazon.
Randy earned a BFA in Design and Illustration from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1998, and previously studied art California Lutheran University and Ventura Community Collage.
